Sleeping Bags for the Homeless

Connecting families to God

Mission Information

For the last seven years, Clarkston United Methodist Church has been coming to Father Blasko’s North End soup kitchen in November. It started with sleeping bags…bringing sleeping bags to make the winter a little bit better for the homeless. Sleeping bags are still part of the program. Eighty were handed out in 2010, but how this mission has grown! McDonald’s gift cards, personal hygiene bags for kids & adults, blankets, sheets, winter coats, shirts, sweatshirts and boots, bags of candy, bags of food, fresh produce and water. CUMC sets up the room, helps with the distribution of materials, and acts as escorts. They talk with those that are served. They share God’s love.

Collections may be brought into Clarkston UMC for distribution in November.
